Suggested pacing guide for PICTURE sorts:
Day 1: Cut the words/pictures apart. Sort them into categories (Ex: /et/. /en/, /eg/ - word endings)
Day 2: Time your child as they re-sort the words.This can be repeated and the child can attempt to beat their own time.
Day 3: Choose from the following activities:
Blind Sort: Set up the head/key words only. Parent says the word to the child. The child has to think about the pattern in the word and point to the category in which it belongs. The parent then places the word under that category so the child can make sure their answer is correct. If the child’s answer is not correct, have them move it to the correct column.
Word Hunt: Search for words in text or household objects that could go with the word pattern of the week. Record in notebook.
Day 4: Resort and glue sort into notebook.
Friday: Return the notebook to class.

Day 2: Sort the words/pictures again and glue them into the Word Work Notebook.
Day 3: Choose an independent activity from the menu located on the inside cover of the notebook and complete it in the notebook using 5 of the words from the list.
Friday: Return the notebook to class.
